What You Will Learn

This course will show you how to apply the tax code benefits and liabilities to what you learned in Course 1 and Course 2. 

Topics include the 3 types of income as defined by the IRC, the histogram of tax liability, federal + state tax systems, tax credits vs. tax deductions, how to build a Cash Flow Worksheet, how to calculate amortizing interest, how to calculate real estate depreciable basis and annual depreciation on real estate investments, the mid-month convention, how to calculate personal property depreciation, depreciation rules, generally accepted depreciation methods, long term vs. short term capital gains, depreciation recapture, how to build a Capital Gains Worksheet, how to calculate After Tax Internal Rate of Return, S Corporation structures, and the Estate Tax. As the tax code is changed, this course will be updated.

How it Works

This course is entirely video based. It's a combination of live lecture backfilled with studio time to give you the personal attention you need on certain items.

Each topic in this course has its own module. Each module contains a series of lectures, and when applicable, solutions for the problems built into the workbook. You should download and print the workbook while you find at the beginning of the course and have it as you work through the course. You will need to make additional notes on some lectures as they include topics not in the workbook.

At the end of each module is a 3-4 question quiz. At the end of the course is a test. The test has 20 questions. All quizzes and the test require 70% to pass.

HP 10BII Financial Calculator

To take this course you will need an HP10BII financial calculator or phone app. The app is around $6.00 and the physical calculator is around $22. The calculator is not included in the tuition and there are links in the course to get yours.

Alumni Center

At the end of your course you will be given a link and access code to the Alumni Center for your course at doesitpencil.com. This access will provide you additional benefits including lectures on video, downloadable MP3 files from the course, and additional practice problems with video based solutions to continue to build your mastery and competency of the Does it Pencil materials.

Certificate

After you have taken the course and successfully completed the final test, you will automatically be provided a certificate. Do Not Lose your certificate. The Core Course charges $25 per replacement certificate. No exceptions.
